Today is World Sight Day, the aim to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. 80% of the worlds blindness is avoidable, make eye care accessible to everyone. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) restoring sight is one of the most cost effective health interventions to reduce poverty.
We at OC Eyecare are proud to support Vision Aid Overseas. In May 2015, our optician Orlagh travelled along with a VAO team on a assignment to Ethiopia. The aim to provide sustainable eye care, to enable people living in poverty to access affordable glasses and eye care. VAO sets up sustainable vision centres, helps train staff in each country so they are self-sufficient. Everyone should have access to eye care.
